NOW IS THE TIME TO STAND UP AND SAY NO MORE BUILDING UNLESS WE GET OUR HOSPITAL BACK.

Cllr. Ian Buckland

Ian Buckland is appalled about the result of the WSPCT ( West Sussex Primary Care Trust ) in their announcement that there is possibly no future for a Littlehampton Hospital after all the years of hard work by other councillors and promises made to them.

It is disgusting that West Sussex and especially Littlehampton and surrounding areas are being exploited by the government and its only those who live here that care about what happens.

So far it's no Hospital and no major works to the A27 at Arundel until 2016. The WSPCT cannot promise anything, they want better services for everyone, BUT they want to 'down-size' Worthing and Chichester hospitals and send people further afield, like to Portsmouth, Southampton, and Brighton etc etc.

The A27 is already at bursting point and is so much over its user capacity. The WSPCT want to have more ambulances, paramedics etc etc on the road BUT IS IT NOT COMMON SENSE that without the road infrastructure this is just suicide. Or in a scenario who is going to apologise to you when they say SORRY GOT STUCK IN TRAFFIC??

The inevitable that shouldn't have happened happens.

And then we have the new building structure like McCarthy and stone, one building nearly complete and another in its planning. All these extra care apartments for the elderly and frail!! Has Littlehampton got such an elderly society that can afford these types of apartments or are these people coming in from some where else?? Where are they going to go?? Are we mad to allow this to happen?? Our doctors, dentists and opticians are all at bursting point and some of us have to wait a week or more at present to see one of them. And with all this we have a town which is supposed to be a seaside resort with more buildings being built more people visiting and staying.

But we have no facilities or infrastructure to support them and most importantly NO HOSPITAL.
